Palmer Brothers Granite Company was selected to design and install the Nebraska Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services Memorial at the Nebraska Firefighters Museum and Education Center near the Archway east of Kearney, Nebraska. We are pleased to be chosen to commemorate the brave men and women that serve mostly as volunteers to protect the lives and property of Nebraskans. The erection of the memorial was completed in October 2010.
The memorial consists of five large granite tablets featuring firefighting scenes depicting historic fire and emergency medical events from the photo archives of the museum. The four outer tablets are engraved with the names of all EMS workers and firefighters that have lost their lives in the line of duty. The centerpiece tablet includes a three foot bronze firefighting-EMS Maltese cross. Eight brick pedestals line the walkway within the memorial capped with black granite engraved with EMS personnel and firefighter's names who have donated funds toward the memorial project. Even though the memorial has been erected you may still have your loved one recognized on the memorial as a firefighter or EMS worker in Nebraska. There are still feature pieces available for corporate or family sponsorship. Recognition of major donors will be engraved on the items donated. For more information go to www.nebraskafirefightersmuseum.com.
If you would like to visit the memorial it is located just north of the Firefighters Museum which is four blocks west of the Archway at Kearney, Nebraska.
